Next: Lightning struck an iconic Christ statue in Brazil over the weekend, leaving social media users stunned.
The 38-meter statue in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, is visited by nearly two million people a year, and strangely, this is the third time in the past 15 years that it has been struck by lightning.
On February 10, lightning struck this religious statue and lit it up. Some managed to take pictures of this phenomenon, and Fernando Braga recorded both pictures and videos of the lightning strike as it happened.
These images have attracted many people and have been viewed more than 20 million times.
One of the users noted that this is not the first time that the statue of Christ, which was named as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World in 2007, has been struck by lightning in 2008 and 2014.
2008 and 2014 have been struck by lightning.
