The process of star formation is still largely a mystery to scientists, but now, the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) has provided a stunning image that shows star-forming clouds in another galaxy.
James Webb's images will be used to solve the mysteries of how and where stars form in 19 nearby spiral galaxies and to map the gas and dust that exists throughout.
While previous infrared space telescopes, such as Spitzer, have already hinted at the infrared treasures hidden in these clouds, now James Webb has provided incredibly high-resolution images of their interior.
