A prominent priest's conversion to Islam became controversial
Father Hilarion Hagee, a prominent Eastern Catholic priest based in the United States, converted to Islam and described his decision to return to Islam as a homecoming.

Hilarion Hagee, who chose the name Saeed Abdul Latif for himself after converting to Islam, confirmed his knowledge of Islam long ago and wanted to announce the right time for it.
He was born in the 80s and is currently 40 years old. He worked as a priest for 14 years, and was constantly criticizing Islam until he converted to Catholicism in 2017.
This former pastor announced his conversion to Islam on his Facebook page and said that the flames of Islam ignited his soul 20 years ago.
He added: "I used to have a promising position as a priest and I was liked and educated, but my inner beliefs changed." One cannot simply be a priest and a monk in public and a Muslim in private.
He continued: Islam is the way of Christ, the way of Moses, the way of Abraham, and the way of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
This former priest continued: In Islam, submission is not to desires, not to human desires, not to divine saints, and not to angels, Islam is submission to the only God.
He, who until recently planned to establish a Christian monastery in California, explained that his conversion to Islam was actually a return to Islam and like returning home.
