Ancient graves under the hospital under construction!

Guangzhou is one of the most populous cities in China. Now, during the activities related to the construction of a hospital, ancient artifacts have been discovered in this city, which show that there has been a 2,000-year-old settlement there.

Faradid: According to the report of the Institute of Archeology in the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, recent constructions in a hospital in Guangzhou have led to the discovery of more than 300 antiquities from six dynasties over a period of more than 2000 years. Among these ancient discoveries are several graves that contain infrastructure and small artifacts such as intact tiles and pottery pieces.

The oldest of these findings date back to the Western Han Dynasty, which lasted from 206 BC to 9 AD, and include drainage networks with clay pipes, water wells, an ash pit, and three tombs. Inside the wells, a stone inkwell, as well as several clay pots were found. The ash pit also contained the remains of tiles, pottery, boxes and tools.

Three graves were in the form of rectangular pits, each of which contained burial pottery, including bowls, boxes, lidded pots, and pots. Two of the graves also contained human remains. The fourth tomb of the Southern Dynasty, which lasted from 386 AD to 589 AD, was also discovered in this site. Unlike the Han Dynasty tombs, the Southern Tomb was a rectangular tomb made of bricks in which the body was buried vertically. Inside the grave, patterns on the bricks, a human bone, three gray-green cups and a Chinese bow were found.

Another ash pit was also discovered at the site, which contained soft shells, storage pots, hearth covers, porcelain bowls, and various types of tiles. Archaeologists have also found evidence of ditches that were used between 1368 and 1911 in the Ming and Qing dynasties.
